The early tournaments in the 2008 World Series of Poker are now coming to an end as the big one prepares to start. The 2008 WSOP main event begins on Thursday with one major change. The final table will not be played until more than three months later. Instead of continuing play once the final table is set as normal, ESPN has convinced the WSOP to delay the final table until November 9th. |

Professional poker players are taking down their share of World Series of Poker titles in Las Vegas. Sometimes the WSOP has a lot of amateurs winning preliminary events but that has not been the case as much in 2008. Poker pros Daniel Negreanu, Kenny Tran, Mike Matusow, Barry Greenstein and Max Pescatori took home titles recently to join Erick Lindgren, Nenad Medic and David Singer as well known winners. |

World Series of Poker results are rolling in from the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada. The early tournaments are attracting a lot of entrants including a record number of 3,929 in Event #2, the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem event. The prize pool for that event totaled over $5.4 million dollars. The winner was Grant Hinkle who took home $831,279. |

Nenad Medic Wins First 2008 WSOP Event |

The first event in the 2008 World Series of Poker is in the books and the winner was poker pro Nenad Medic. The first WSOP event was the $10,000 Pot-Limit Holdem tournament that had a prize pool of $3.3 million dollars. The final table saw a good battle between Medic, Mike Sexton, Andy Bloch, Patrik Antonius, Phil Laak, Chris Bell, Amit Makhija, Mike Sowers and Kathy Liebert. |
