The World Poker Tour Legends of Poker tournament began on Sunday at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California. Entries were way down from last year as only 373 players paid the $10,000 entry fee. That is over 100 less than last year’s 485 players. The winner of the tournament will still take home about $1.1 million dollars. The top 36 players make the money in the WPT Legends of Poker tournament. Some of the contenders after the first two days of play are World Series of Poker Horse Champion Freddy Deeb, poker pros Barry Greenstein and Mark Seif. One of the stranger eliminations of Day 1B action was the one experienced by Phil Ivey. With blinds of just 50-100 he pushed all-in for $20,000 without even looking at his cards. His 2-3 ran into pocket Kings and Ivey was gone. Obviously Ivey had something better to do than play for $1.1 million dollars. Other players to hit the rail were Daniel Alaei, David Williams, Justin Bonomo, Jennifer Tilly, Jean-Robert Bellande, Theo Tran, Amir Vahedi and Chris Ferguson. Last year’s winner of the event was Dan Harrington. He defeated David “The Dragon” Pham to take home the title and $1.6 million dollars. Here is a look at the payouts for this year’s WPT Legends of Poker: 1st Place: $1,116,428 A total of 246 players made it through the first two days of play. The players will continue play on Tuesday and Wednesday with final table action on Thursday. |
